Personal Statement
Going to state two years in a row with my hometown team, Austin, MN, has been the highlight of my high school soccer career thus far. Even though we got third both years, I really think I have become a better athlete and human being by participating in this big event, and that means a lot. I feel that I have grown as a student-athlete throughout my junior year. When we had struggles during the regular season with leadership, I stepped up, and it showed that leadership can make a difference in everyone's game. It also shows that every team needs a leader and someone that is willing to make you better by believing in them. That experience helped me grow as a person and lead me to re-focus my own efforts on becoming a solid defender capable of playing at the college level.
I am beyond thankful to be apart of amazing programs with in Austin, MN. As part of the Austin Youth Soccer Association, we placed second two years in a row at the summer state tournament. As part of my high school soccer team, we place third twice at state in my sophmore and junior year. I learned that the value of teamwork, leadership, communtication, and sacrifice throughout my high school career. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe, I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. As a two sport athelete and a future senior captain, I know what it takes to be a leader on your team on and off the field.
