I am 5'10" tall and weigh 150 pounds. I have participated on a club team that has been nationally ranked in the top 20 on Got Soccer, the Blue Valley Stars Boca Juniors. When I left Boca Juniors to join the Sporting KC Jrs Development Academy U16 team, I was the only player selected as captain by coach and teammates four years in a row. I scored a goal to tie the state championship game in 2010 and then hit the winning penalty kick that moved us on to regionals. At regionals, I scored the first goal for for our team against Ohio Everest who went on to be national league champions. I have competed in regional ODP, at the Disney Showcase twice, in the Las Vegas College Showcase and our team won the Ohio Elite College Showcase with over 40 teams present. I have played in Premier MRL for 2 seasons and 1 season of MRL soccer. Highlights for me personally have included goals against Ohio Everest on 2 separate occasions and a goal at the Disney Showcase against Concorde Fire Elite. I have also scored goals in Premier MRL league (top league below only national league 8 teams) against Vardar West, Columbus Crew, Mequon, Ohio Everest and the Chicago Eclipse. My team won the futsal national championships in 2010 in Kansas City and were runners-up to national champs in 2011. My junior year I was selected preseason as a junior to play in the All-Star game at the Saint Louis showcase tournament. My team, Rockhurst, lost in double overtime in the championship game of the A bracket at the Gateway City Classic Tournament in Saint Louis. We also won the Top Dawg tournament held at Blue Valley Northwest high school. Rockhurst were class 3 Missouri State Champions in 2010. Recently playing at the Developmental Academy level I have had goals In April 2012 playing against the Colorado Rapids as well as against the Minnesota Thunder Academy. There is a 15 minute You Tube video segment of me playing soccer available by searching "Matt Bernard Rockhurst #14". I played my senior year for U18 Sporting KC Juniors with Coach Jon Parry.
I HAVE ALREADY BEEN THROUGH TWO SEASONS OF DIVISION 1 SOCCER. My freshman year, I was recruited on Presidential scholarship at Drake University. I developed mononucleosis during fall preseason training and was redshirted. My redshirt freshman year at Drake I consistently got playing time. I have THREE YEARS OF COLLEGE ELIGIBILITY REMAINING and look forward to transferring to a program where my attacking, possession style soccer can help the program.
