Begging my journey many years ago, I never thought I’d be standing in the shoes I am now. My lifelong goal of making it to the collegiate level stares me in my eyes, as I enter my senior year. Starting with the 12 years of eating, sleeping, and playing soccer it molded me into my stature today. Reaching the highest level of the sport besides being a professional, at that young age, I began to get satisfied. Myself never backing down from any challenge, finally picked up the beautiful leather ball. Looking back on it now, I never thought I’d become so in love with two objects, the ball and a goal. I started to grow as a man and physically, in high school. It was like myself being an artist with a blank canvas right in front of me, the sky being the limit. My confidence and wit in the game of basketball started to grow, my level of play did as well. Then, my junior year strikes. Now to me, family will always be the most important thing in my life as long as I’m living. My grandma was struck with cancer twice in over a two month span, which happened to be at the start of my junior season. Us having the tightest of bonds, it took a toll on me mentally, and as my grades started to slip, so did my love for the game. As she stated “God gives the bad to open you up to the good”. Missing over half of my junior season, I believe has been the biggest blessing in disguise. After those hard months, I picked up that beautiful ball and went to absolute work. Everyday since I’ve watched my teammates play those games without me I’ve been in the gym. Now being a senior, my time to prove everyone wrong is here. Being the strongest I’ve been been in my life I am ready to do whatever it takes to win games and make it to the next level. All I need is one chance.
