Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Alexander and I grew up in 2 different countries. I was born in Germany and moved to the USA when I was 1 year old. I lived in the US for 8 years and grew up in the American culture, which had a positive impact on my life and made me fall in love with sports. I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old. I started playing in Irvington, NY. When I was 7, I started playing for a traveling team called Greenburgh United. Shortly after turning 9 years old, my family moved back to Germany, where I started playing club soccer for Viktoria Berlin. I have been playing there on a high level for 8 years, 5 of which I was leading the team as Captain and together we won our league title multiple times. Because I love being athletically challenged and being involved in team sports, I managed to successfully participate in the following:
I played baseball (Berlin Sluggers) for 2 years during which I made the State team.
I also was the Team Captain of my school basketball team with which we won the Berlin school Championship in 2018.
In addition, I played American Football for the Berlin Bears for 3 years, 2 of those years I was team Captain and in my final year we won all games. I was selected Team offensive MVP in my second year and Team MVP in my final year.
For my school I organized a squad as team captain to participate in a statewide multisport fun competition were we won first place.
In school I was voted Student Body President and awarded Student of the year in 2019.
For the school year 19/20, I participated in a High School student exchange program. I attended American Leadership Academy Ironwood where I played soccer for my high school team. For the first time in school history, we made State playoffs and advanced to the second round. I also played American Football where I started since the first game and was an honorary Team Captain. I was awarded Honorable Mention All-Region Wide Receiver.
Next to sports my academic life is equally important to me. Through focused work I have qualified for the National Honor Society for 2020-2021!
In the meantime, my family moved job related to the US again where we now live in St Louis. I would describe myself as adaptable, flexible and open-minded person. I am a team player with the willingness and eagerness to lead. In the future, my plan is to study business administration/management.
