Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Richard Petillo and I have been playing soccer since I was 6 years old. I did not start out as a goalie. In my eight grade year, my middle school team's goalie graduated and went to high school, so the coach had me play goalie. I impressed them greatly and received several compliments from other coaches as well as the referees. They would tell me that they see me having a future in this sport. I started to train harder and harder to pass people's expectations of me as a goalie. I work harder than anyone else, I will never give up, and I live to play soccer. As a junior in Calvary Academy in Lakewood, NJ, I have received numerous compliments from my teammates, my coach, referees, and other coaches from different teams. They all see me playing for a competitive college; therefore, I am working as hard as I possibly can to make it true. I am a work hard and do not quit type of athlete. Even when times might be tough, I push through it to get back up to the top. Soccer is not my only sport that I play. I also play baseball and basketball. I would say that I am quite good at baseball as well. My academics are very important to me. I graduated middle school with a 100% average my eighth grade year and I strive for that all year now. I would say that my average GPA is a 3.6. I take school very seriously, and have not missed a day of school since 4th grade. With that being said, I am a very healthy person so I do not get sick often. The last time I was sick was 2 years ago. No matter what, I always work hard and you will be able to easily notice my work ethic in anything I do.
