My name is Mark Surretsky and I am looking forward to playing soccer at the collegiate level. I have been playing soccer at a high level since I was young. I was the captain of my former club team, NESA, as well as a starter for Nutley High School's varsity team during my freshman and sophomore years. Recently, I have been playing for Cedar Stars Academy (USYS) and transferred to St. Benedict's Prep (Newark) in the summer of 2022 for my junior and senior years. Needless to say, St Benedict's Prep High School soccer program is one of the best in the country and will allow me to take the next step in my growth as a person and soccer player. I have also been added to Cedar Stars' USL u19 team as a u16 player. I also played on the Cedar Stars Academy team in the Capelli Sport Cup in Koge, Denmark.
I have a great feel for the game and can play multiple positions. My most recent position is Left Back (Fullback or Wingback depending on the formation). My coaches tell me I have the unique combination of speed, strength and stamina. Success in soccer can be measured in many ways, not only by goals and assists, but by what you do when you don't have the ball -- always checking in, marking players and communicating. Making assists is as important to me as scoring goals. I approach the game with passion, toughness, selflessness and a strong work ethic in order to continually improve myself and grow as a player. I am very coach-able and a good teammate; I build up my teammates by being a supportive leader both on and off the field. I am confident you will see that by watching me play.
Soccer is without a doubt a beautiful game and I strongly believe I can be an integral part of the right team at the collegiate level. When I am not on the soccer field, in the gym or keeping up with my studies, I play piano, drums, bass and sing.
