Ryan Butler '14 Recruiting Profile

Athletics: I try to make an impact on and off the field by boosting my teammates' energy and motivating them in a positive manner. I am very vocal on the field and help my teammates know where I am at all times. I am very hard-working, physically and mentally fit when it comes to playing the game. I strive every day to improve myself on the field. I pretty much play soccer all year round; high school in the fall, club in the spring, summer soccer and winter indoor. In my spare time, you can usually find me at our local turf soccer field perfecting my game or organizing pick up games with my teammates and soccer players from neighboring towns. During the off season, I play varsity basketball as starting point guard and spend time at the gym to keep myself in playing shape. I feel that to be a good striker, you must have a complete vision of the field. Having a complete vision of the field enables me to make good decisions during the game when it comes to scoring or setting up my teammates. As a striker, my job is to finish and score goals, but I am proud to say that I also have averaged about 8 assists per season in my varsity career. I have a very strong passion for the game and would like the opportunity to continue to play at a high level in college. I believe that my passion and love of soccer will prove valuable as I take the next step in my playing career! Academics: I am always striving for academic excellence.  Being academically sound is very important to me.  Currently, I am fourth in my class with a 4.676 GPA (out of 4.8).  I am a responsible, focused student.

I have an openness to learn.  I enjoy math and science, but still do well in other subjects.  I am involved in  various organizations, such as Interact and Student Council where I hold the position of School Treasurer. Outside of high school, I am involved in the New Jersey Association of Student Council where I most recently attended (summer of 2009, 2010, and 2011) their Leadership Training Conference (LTC) held at the College of New Jersey (TCNJ). There I participated not only as a delegate but also as a State Administrative Assistant. I am also a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society, and the National Society of High School Scholars. After graduation I plan on majoring in Business or Economics/Mathematics.
