My name is Colin Roche and I am a rising senior at Ridgewood High School (RHS, currently 5-0, the top team in Bergen County, and tanked 17 in NJ) that has played soccer as long as I can remember. A diligent student on the pitch and in the classroom, I will graduate with high honors in 2020 and plan on playing soccer for a top liberal arts college or research university. In fact, I can already visualize myself controlling the central midfield for a DIII program that takes its soccer seriously. I am told by those I respect that my level of commitment and lead-by-example ethos -- not to mention my technical skills, tactical awareness, and overall level of fitness (see my two mile time from freshman year, before I abandoned track to focus exclusively on soccer) -- make this is a realistic goal.
What else should you know about me? Well, I am a creative and consummate playmaker with stellar vision and awareness that can finish with either foot, knows how to slot runners through, creates havoc with high pressure, and consistently makes those around me more effective. I am also a late bloomer physically, with growth plates that suggest I have a good few inches yet to grow before I graduate.
As for my experience, I've played in the the UK, the Surf Cup, and IMG with several Nextgen select teams; went to the Gothia Cup with my town team as a U12; was called up to varsity at RHS as a freshman to solidify the midfield (and never looked back); and continue to play ACM for TSF Academy 2001 USYS NL -- a Dallas Cup semi-finalist in 2019 and one of the top U18 club teams in the nation.
