Personal Statement
I am currently a Senior in the Science Institute at Tottenville High School which is a highly competitive and challenging academic program consisting of AP and Honors classes. I also play travel soccer for Cedar Stars Academy, Bergen Division in the National League (Jersey #8). I put enormous efforts in my academic and soccer schedule and I am very passionate about both. My goal is to be able to attend a prestigious and competitive college and do well academically, as well as play competitive soccer for the college team. I know I can do both because of my history of doing well in both for many years.
Regarding soccer, I believe that I would be an asset to a college soccer team because I am a strong team player and leader. I have the utmost respect, admiration and compassion for my teammates, coaches, trainers, referees and even my opponents. I also take the initiative to lead my teammates when necessary, even if that means changing the attitude and momentum of a game when things may not be going as planned. I believe that my qualities as a soccer player and as a student would make me a good addition to a college soccer team. One example of this is an evaluation I received from Coach Perry of American International College during the 50 ID Camp in which I participated in July 2019. Coach Perry commented that I bring energy to every session , that my knowledge of the game and work ethic stand out and that my awareness on the field and technical skills help me to create opportunities for teammates.
I also enjoy doing volunteer work for my community, including helping at charity fundraisers. I participated in a 5K run to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society with my high school soccer team in September for the past several years, and I participated in walks for Autism Awareness, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Multiple Sclerosis Society awareness for the past several years.
Please check out my video highlights and please note that my jersey number is 8 for Bergen (white/green) and 32 for Monmouth.
