Hi, my name is Gianna Codispoti, and I aspire to further my athletic and academic career in college. I'm a wrestler from Staten Island, New York and I attend Tottenville High School. As a freshman, I was apart of track and made my school's softball team in the fall. Come winter time, I became a manager for the team, but enjoyed the sport so much individually that I started going to a club, and eventually my own team practices. I've done many sports in my life, but wrestling stuck out to me- I would never be able to stop pushing myself and I could always transform my life for the better. Wrestling became my personal escape and since I started, I knew I wouldn't be able to stop. My goal in wrestling is to always push myself to the edge- I'm obsessed with becoming better mentally and physically in this sport. I want to learn life lessons from wrestling as I grow up and become an adult, and in the end, represent my country one day. As a teammate, I am compellingly compassionate, and believe in strength as a team just as much as strength individually. I treat my teammates like brothers and sisters and will always work to form a relationship with them. I will never pass down a practice partner in the wrestling room. What makes me different from other recruiters is my ambition. I work through each bump in my road, I will never try to avoid it, for it is a lesson and a drive for my future greatness. Athletically, I've placed in Eastern States once, states twice, cities twice, and was able to win a match at Virginia Beach Nationals. Since these credentials, I've began practicing, lifting and dieting so that I can perform to my best abilities all the time. I'd like to represent myself as an exceptional student- I've been part of Arista/ National Honor Society since 6th grade and have 41 out of 44 required credits to graduate as a junior. I am enrolled in AP classes and take senior classes, since I took three regents in middle school. My mother has been a teacher for 12 years, so primarily focusing on school has been a big part of my life since I was a child. I will always prioritize education first, and plan to major in Architecture, or Biochemistry in college. I hope I was able to express the kind of person I am, and I hope to wrestle for you one day. Thank you, for taking the time to read my personal statement.
