Personal Statement
Throughout my high school soccer career I have had many experiences that have helped me grow not only as an athlete, but more importantly, as a person. Leadership is one character trait I have learned through playing soccer. I have been playing Varsity soccer since 8th grade and starting since 9th, and with that transition have had to learn how to become a leader on and off the field. Playing at the central midfield role has demanded that I control the field (offensively and defensively) and lead my team both in pace and direction. This has allowed me to improve and fine tune my communication abilities both on the field and in the classroom.
I am also very disciplined and have a strong work ethic, which comes not only from playing soccer since the age of 6, but also from the 8 years I have been playing piano and 6 years that I have played the guitar. Playing these instruments has taught me the importance of practice and that doing the little things at a high standard of performance creates success. It has taught me how to stay dedicated to something that I care about regardless of the hard work and time commitment. I have applied this same dedication and commitment to education, which I hope to continue as a student and an athlete in my college journey. I am currently taking all the International Baccalaureate (IB) classes that my school offers and am working to earn an IB diploma.
