I am Elijah Turner class of 2024 a 2-sport student Athlete. I have been this way since I was 4 years old. Soccer and Track are my 2 sports. I grew up with a football and basketball family. I told my dad at 4 years old I wanted to play soccer. Although he loved football and basketball the most. He put me into soccer. A sport I was more curious about at 4 years old soccer immediately became a sport I fell in love with. I have a great passion for soccer. As I became more committed to soccer over the years, I wanted to play soccer in college. Being in 1 of the best conferences in Ohio high school soccer I am challenged by some of the best Club players in the state and I love the challenge.
Soccer is a team sport where the team must work together to be successful. I like being a team player and being able to lead by example. I am an outside back. I've also played striker, but center and outside back most of my time playing soccer. I am a better defender and I've always thought the less points we allow the other team to score the higher the chance of us winning. I was awarded the Sportsmanship award this past season for my team. I was very proud to receive this award because it reflects who I am as an athlete. I've played indoors in the off-season to continue to develop in soccer. Speed and agility are two of my greatest skills. I work with a skills and agility trainer in the winter. I am very coachable; I listen and I'm a quick learner. I like to take what I learn and pass it on to my peers.
Academics are so important to me. I've always been taught grades before everything. I have been on honor roll all 4 quarters in all my high school years. I am in multiple honors and college prep classes. I like the advanced classes because I love a challenge. I love to learn, and I learn quickly. My freshman year I was awarded All conference Academics. I have received awards for 3.0 and higher in all my seasons of sports. I currently hold a 3.3 gpa. I am going to bring up higher this year because I want to expand my opportunity to attend college. I have 21.25 of my 22 credits needed to graduate going into my senior year. 4.0 for my senior year is the goal and I am very capable of doing so.
I wish to attend a college to create a better future for myself. I believe that education is a very important part of life. They say knowledge is the key to success. I would love to further educate myself and find what I have a passion for so I can make a career of it. Right now, what I have a heavy interest in falls under the engineering category as in mechanical engineering and computer engineering. I could be the first family member of my generation to attend college right after high school. I know the importance of getting a college degree because a lot of my family members struggled with just a high school diploma until they received a degree or gained more knowledge of the field, they worked in. I will also be to pass down my knowledge and spread my experience with my younger family members so I can help them pursue college. As a kid you are protected from many things in the real world by adults around you. Attending the right college will help me be more prepared for the real world.
