Hi, my name is Joey Schrand. I'm a junior at Carroll High School (Dayton OH) and will graduate in the class of 2022. I'm a goalkeeper with a height of 6'1" and weight of 180 pounds.
I've played soccer since I was 5 years old and started playing club soccer at the age of 7. I've always enjoyed competition and played multiple sports (basketball, volleyball, and swimming), but there was always something very special to me about the game of soccer. I've been blessed to have been on many great soccer teams in my time with the Celtics and Galaxies club teams ('03), which played at extremely high levels. For example, my club team regularly competed in the Ohio South State Championship, in addition to many years playing in the highest level regional league. I also had the opportunity to play with the '02 Galaxies team in the national league this past winter, which was an incredibly rewarding experience. Throughout my time playing club soccer, I've always maintained a starting role with an elite team, and often was the only keeper for these teams which provided a great deal of game experience against intense competition.
In addition to my passion for soccer, I also place a high priority on academics. I excel academically in all areas, but enjoy math and science the most. My current unweighted GPA is 3.76 and a weighted GPA of 4.43. I have pushed myself academically with many honors level classes throughout my time in high school and will continue to push myself throughout high school and college as I prepare myself the future. Soccer has taught me many valuable life lessons, such as dedication, tenacity, and self-discipline, which I've been able to apply in all areas of life. I plan to pursue a technical degree in either engineering or data science while in college.
I'm highly motivated to play soccer at the next level. I'm a highly motivated player with a team first mentality. I lead by example through my actions both on and off the field.
