Personal Statement
Like most athletes, my main collegiate goal is to get a good education, graduate, and become successful in a traditional full time career. That said, I have had aspirations to play college soccer since I was very little. I bring valuable traits such as work ethic, coachability, and leadership to every team I have had the opportunity to play with. While some elite athletes I have matched up against may possess more speed or strength, I have found I can outwork them. Anytime I go into a game, whether it's the worst team in our league or the best team in the state, I plan to work hard and focus on winning every ball. Personally, this helps boost my confidence and gives me a reason to persevere through any struggle. Aside from work ethic, I know I am a reliable person that won't fall victim to any type of drugs, violence, or outside factors. In other words, when I commit to a team, I mean it. As for my soccer capabilities, field vision, technical skill, and ability to win balls out of the air are my best attributes. Overall, I feel that I have a similar play style to N'Golo Kante because my advanced spacial awareness, ability to read the game, and high work ethic allows me to appear like I'm everywhere on the field. In addition, I'm always open to learning new skills that improve my game and taking direction from coaches to achieve team goals.
In regard to academics, I have grown up in an environment that promotes good grades and hard work both in and outside of sports. I have been a multi-sport varsity athlete (soccer and basketball) for my entire high school career while achieving a weighted GPA of 4.75. This statistic clearly demonstrates that I know how to set my priorities straight; a great attribute for any athlete hoping to simultaneously succeed in school and in athletics.
