Personal Statement
My name is Alen Vejo, I am a forward and defensive midfielder from the International School of Beaverton, Class of 2022. I play club soccer for the United PDX 04 Premier Academy, where I primarily play forward. As a forward, I am able to utilize my strength and technical ability to play as a "Classic 9", where I provide consistent hold up play, good ball distribution, and consistent finishing in and around the box.
I spent most of my high school soccer career playing as a defensive midfielder, up until my senior season when I was asked to play center back for the majority of the season, before transitioning to my natural position as a forward for the last 6 games of the season. During these 6 games as a forward, I was able to tally 5 goals and 2 assists, while earning and All Conference Honorable Mention.
In previous years, I have played at both the DA and ODP levels. I played for the BSC DA team from U-12 to U-14, where I was the top goal scorer for my team in the U-14 season. After my experience with the DA, I joined ODP, where I was selected for the state team that represented Oregon at the Region IV showcase in 2019, where our team finished second in the 2004 division. I also earned an invite to the ODP Region IV regional camp in July of 2019.
The school I attend, ISB, is a very academically rigorous IB school. Despite the challenge of attending such an academically focused school, I have maintained a 3.5 GPA (3.7 weighted), and am on track to graduate with an IB Diploma. I am also a member of National Honors Society.
I believe my success both on the field and in the classroom show my willingness and ability to succeed as a student athlete, and I hope to take that with me as I move on to the next level.
