Hello coaches and staff,
My name is Casey Jones and I am a senior at Bridgeland High School in Cypress, Texas. I was lucky enough to be born into a family with strong academic and athletic genes. My dad (baseball) and mom (volleyball) were both D1 collegiate scholar/athletes at Rice University. Additionally, my sister is currently a senior studying and swimming at Trinity University in San Antonio. I have enjoyed and competed in many sports growing up including soccer, baseball, basketball, track and swimming including playing tournament ball on select teams in both soccer and baseball. However, by the end of my 7th grade year, I knew where my passion was and that is on a soccer field!
Since that time, I have devoted myself to learning, growing and improving my soccer skills every time that I touch the ball. I joined the Dynamos Youth Soccer program where I have been lucky enough to be selected to the Gold Team each year and be coached by Dave Hill who has incredible passion and knowledge for the game. I also attend as many extra goalkeeper training sessions with our club as my schedule allows where I have continued to develop my abilities as a goalkeeper. Our team has been together for multiple years now and we have been able to travel on a national level to compete last year in San Diego at the ENPL National Playoffs. We met our goal this season and earned a spot in the same playoffs for 2019 in Rockville, Illinois. We won in Rockville and advanced to the National Playoffs in Denver, placing 7th.
I also enjoy playing at the high school level. I attended Cypress Ranch High School my 9th grade year where I earned the starting GK position on JV in a very deep, competitive program. There, I trained with some strong upper classmen and college-bound soccer players who taught me a lot. My 10th grade year I opened a new high school where we started with no varsity sports. Personally, I used this as an opportunity to advance my GK skills, condition more, lift more and work on my team leadership skills as I was chosen as a JV-A team co-captain by the head coach. The past two years, I have again been chosen as a co-captain, this time voted on by my teammates. In addition to being the starting keeper all season, I also played forward in several games because we were down offensive players due to injuries. My coach was not afraid to put me there because I am willing to do whatever the team needs. Not to mention I have great speed, size and high energy level.
I was taught from a young age that working hard at anything you do is expected and therefore it is second nature to me. I take pride in being the player that others look up to. Leading by example is the best way I can think of to show what is expected within a program. I know the value of hard work, I understand the importance of time management, I have experienced wins and losses and work hard to improve upon previous performances day in and day out in the classroom and on the field. I believe that I would be a great addition to any program should I be lucky enough to represent them.
