Brendan Valenzuela '23 Recruiting Profile

I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old.  Over the years, I’ve discovered that I really love the game. 

My usual position is forward or striker, but my coaches appreciate that I can also play as a box to box midfielder. 

One of the highlights of my soccer career so far was in 2019. In June 2019, I participated in a Real Madrid soccer camp in Dallas, sponsored by Kaptiva Sports. I was among a select few players chosen to fly to Spain in November 2019 to train for a week at the Real Madrid facilities. This experience helped me to realize that I would like to play soccer professionally.

In the 2020-2021 school year, I was a starter and the Captain of my Varsity Soccer Team as a sophomore.  I received the Coach’s Award this Season because of my ability to control the flow of the game through my dribbling and distribution. 

This past season was my first official season with Coppell FC. I captained for the team and was the leading goal scorer. While I usually played striker for Coppell, Coach would also rotate me in as a midfielder if the team needed additional support in those areas of the field.

My versatility and technical ability set me apart as a player. Coaches have also praised my willingness to work hard and take feedback. 

In addition to striving for excellence on the soccer field, I also work hard in the classroom. I was inducted into the National Honor Society as a Sophomore, and I have maintained good grades in a highly challenging honors curriculum while playing for two soccer teams simultaneously. I am looking for a university where I can contribute both on and off the soccer field as I pursue my dream of playing professionally.
