Kai Altun- Soccer...Playing soccer has been a life-long passion for me. The discipline and challenge required to play at a high level has helped shaped the person I am today, both on and off the field. I’m a tough, passionate player with a controlled touch and excellent vision for playmaking. I strive to be a leader and I try to motivate my teammates in our common goals of developing as individuals and working as a team.
I’ve played soccer since I was 5 years old, and I have been playing on select club teams since I was 7. In high school, I was determined to play at the highest level, early on. My tenacity and strong work ethic paid off and I was the only Freshman selected to play on the Varsity team. Winning the award for “All-District Newcomer of the Year” that season was both exciting and humbling.
Besides my formal training on Club teams, at camps, and in high school, I also have experience playing informally in summer games during family visits to Spain and Turkey, where my parents are from. This gives me a unique advantage to understanding soccer from a different perspective and has given me a sense of global citizenship for the game. I can adapt to playing in any circumstance and I enjoy playing with different kinds of people.
In school, I work hard to maintain a high GPA and I challenge myself with AP classes, above and beyond what is required for graduation. In college, I plan to study Business Administration where I can develop my interests in finance and marketing. As a student athlete, I have learned to manage my time and energy to be successful both in the class and on the field. I hope to attend a reputable college where I can continue to excel as a student and a player.
