My name is Gage Tumlinson and I'm currently an incoming Senior at Wimberley High School in Wimberley, Texas. Currently, I playing on two club teams for soccer and High School Football. The last two seasons I played at the Frontier Conference level, but had to descend a level to SCL because I was not able to make practices with the only Frontier Conference team available Cap City North due to the distance of practices. I played at the Frontier Conference level for the past two years. The first year coming from a small league my team was two years older than I and they all graduated and my league didn't have a team for me to play on. The second year I moved to a new club Capitol City and tried out and made the team full of seniors when I was a junior and they also graduated this past May leaving me having to find a new team. This year, I chose to play at the SCL level vs Frontier only because of the distance and practice times.
My appreciation for soccer comes with lots of hard work and a multitude of sacrifices, but if I could go back I would not change anything. I am looking to attend a college that will excel my knowledge and my athletic ability. My number one goal after high school is to attend a college to continue to further my education.
I consider myself one who does not like to back down from a challenge. This mentality is what I believe has applied to my academic success.
Working as a team allows me to grow as an individual. It motivates me to work harder, and be better and gives the team the opportunity to inspire and encourage one another on and off the pitch.
I am a switch foot player, and have played a multitude of positions throughout my life. My main position is defensive mid , but I am a versatile player and can play many other positions. My coaches have always called me a "provider" , said that I can read the field and that I am not a tunnel vision player. The 2020-2021 season, was my first season to play at the Frontier Conference level in club soccer and it was a great learning experience. I just tried out for a new club team this season, because most of my team graduated and we were a super small club so to play Frontier was a huge accomplishment. I made the the new team, which plays at the same level (2nd in State last year) and am looking forward to advancing my skill level even more. On my team at Wimberley High School I have played at the Varsity level starting my freshman year through my current senior year. I serve/served as captain my junior and senior year.
There is no better feeling than a great strong tackle, and me shooting a left foot shot into the goal. In high pressure situations on the field, I have the capability of staying calm, and reading the field. I am noticed for being an aggressive player, and some things that set me apart is my leadership ability, commitment, respect, and faith. I have also been recognized for being coachable, and teachable.
I am looking forward to amazing possible opportunities that may be presented in my future.
