I have lived abroad in South America for a large part of my life and that is where I discovered my passion for soccer. While living in Brazil, I attended elementary school in Foz do Iguazu in Northern Brasil and soccer was very much a daily activity. I was born in Mexico, but spent my early childhood living in several countries including Uruguay, Argentina, Mexico and as I mentioned above, Brasil. Having moved around due to my father’s work, I am very adept at adapting to different cultures, social situations and schools. I was able to speak fluent Spanish and Portuguese (which I still do) and made great friendships wherever we lived. I can bring that talent for adaptability and highly tuned social skills to be able to help develop teamwork for the soccer team I am a part of.
I have been playing the position of Goalie for my Varsity soccer team at Burr and Burton Academy since we transferred to Vermont in 2016 and have been able to integrate quickly and show leadership to my team. My varsity coach recently asked me to be his assistant coach for his summer soccer youth program designed for up and coming soccer youth in the local Vermont area which I consider a great honor. His decision was based on my leadership skills he has seen on the field and previous counselor work I have done as part of teaching youth soccer as part of his program. I am also proud of my recent study skills which has enabled me to score a 1050 on my first SAT score attempt. I plan to take the SAT again in the upcoming months to improve this score.
As goalie I continue to show leadership to help direct my team’s efforts with constant feedback and verbal direction during games to help reinforce our coach’s strategy. Technically I constantly try to learn new techniques and improve on my goalie skills. I have attended Black Watch soccer academy in Albany during the 2017 season and still attend Blackwatch goalie classes. I have also attended Dan Gaspar’s SGA goalie academy this past summer and plan to attend again this summer. I am currently enrolled in Summit soccer club based in Rutland, VT and we have games scheduled starting in April for the spring season. I would be happy to send my schedule to my prospective schools in order to meet coaches and further discuss my scholastic future, which I definitely would like to have soccer as a main focus.
