My name is Damari Fleming, I play Wing and Outside back, I can also play Forward. I played for my school, John Randolph High School, my sophomore and junior year. I also played for the Richmond Strikers since 2016. I have been playing soccer since the age of 5, participating in 5 tournaments, winning 4 of them and being finalist in the other, while also winning a tournament MVP.
I come from a single parent household with 5 siblings. Not having a father figure in my life. It do takes it’s toll, but I don’t let that stop me from perusing my dreams and succession. With my mom being a veteran, moving around was apart of my life. So having to prove myself on and off the field became natural with determination and hard work. When I compete, I bring intensity no matter if it’s practice or game situations. But I also know the values of getting my teammates involved, working together and motivating each and everyone of them.
Being a multi-sport athlete, I understood the importance maintaining myself athletically and academically, so eligibility was very important to me . For most of my high school career I maintained a AB honor roll. Along the way it did get tough, but I never quit anything. I will graduate 2020 with a 2.5 GPA and with the opportunity of further education, I hope to pursue a degree in Psychology or Sports Medicine.
