Personal Statement
Hi, I'm Qais Dib (17 years old) and I am 5,10 weighing in at 140 pounds. Ever since I was a kid, I can't remember a time in which I went on with my day without kicking a soccer ball around. I started playing soccer at the age of 5 in the streets of Jordan with my friends in the Middle East. At that time, soccer was just a game to me, but now as I gain experience, I see it as a lifestyle. Soccer isn't just a sport that relies on your physical ability, but it is a sport that relies on your mental ability to strive for perfection and to pick urself back up even when u loose much more than you have gained. From playing in the streets, I slowly began to become more competitive and worked on my craft until I reached a point where I wanted something greater than a game with my friends in the street. After that, I joined my school team and worked my way up the group ages along the way taking every loss and win as a lesson. This mindset took me from playing against people my age to playing against people a few years older than myself. And yes, there were times where I was forced to fight for my position in the starting lineups with age groups older than me, and I always made sure I gave it my all which ultimately gave me a near-permanent starting role in every team I played for. From there, I again felt the need to play at a higher level which led to me joining my first sports club called Al Saad Sports club (Ex midfielder Xavi from Barcelona Currently plays there) located in Qatar, from there I got the feedback I needed from professional players and got my first view of what the professional world of soccer was like which I loved. A few years later, I moved from Al Saad Sports Club academy to Qatar Sports club academy (Samuel Eto currently plays there) and continued to face great competition. Now, I currently live in Virginia and I for the U17 ECNL mclean youth soccer academy. If I had to pick a word to describe myself, it would have to be "Adaptive". During my time in Qatar and Jordan, I played with countless players from different nationalities and went to an "IB" curriculum private school which gave me a great skill set in working with others efficiently. My goal as a person is to one day sit in the locker room alongside the best players in the world getting ready to compete in the Champions League.
