Hello, my name is Ryan Roncskevitz. I am currently a Senior at Langley High School in Virginia, a “top US high school.” I play on my school's Varsity team where I start as an outside back. In addition, I play year-round on the Virginia Union FC 05/04 ECNL team. I also wrestle on the Varsity team and ran cross country for my high school. Wrestling mentally and physically toughens me up which allows me to keep the intensity and focus high for my soccer team. The running benefits my stamina, allowing me to play a full 90-minute game aggressively.
What makes me different from other players is that I have very good endurance and I believe succeeding in academics also leads to success on the field. I’m not afraid to step out of my comfort zone, such as playing a position that I do not normally play in order to benefit the team and myself. Academically, I am a student who always strives to do well. With a 4.00 GPA, my competitive nature keeps me focused throughout classes.
I believe that I am a person who works to improve not just myself, but my teammates as well. I encourage my teammates to keep the intensity high and compete in practice as well as in games. I thrive playing on a team that is highly competitive. Looking back, I've asked former coaches, friends and teachers to share a word or phrase that best describes me. The majority used the words "excessively competitive" or "athletic."
I hope to find a college where I can accomplish both my academic AND soccer goals.
