Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Scott Landry. I have been playing soccer since the age of three. I am a starter and one of the few sophomores on the 2004 Mclean ECNL team, and I have been a captain since I joined the team fours years ago. I am a versatile player who alternates between center midfield and winger. Last year our team finished third in the ECNL Mid-Atlantic conference and would have gone to the playoffs (top 4 from each conference) if not for the sudden halt to the season. This Fall we continued our momentum, leading our ECNL conference with an 8-1-1 record and our EDP conference with a 3-0-0 record. Last year I was the top goalscorer and a lead assister, and I am on track to be a top contributor again this season.
I am also a five-time Virginia State ODP player, a two-time East Region ODP player (2019-20, 2020-21) and was selected as one of eighteen players to attend an international trip to France. I have greatly valued the opportunity to interact with top level players from all over the region, and to be exposed to many coaching styles and tactical systems.
I am an extremely hard worker both athletically and academically. In the year 2020, I played over 500 hours of soccer, much of which was on my own due to COVID related cancelations. I attend The Potomac School, a private school in McLean, Virginia, where I am pursuing a rigorous college prep curriculum. At school, I am involved in clubs, take advanced classes, and play on the varsity soccer team. As the only freshman on the team last year, I was a starter at center midfield and helped win the Mid-Atlantic Conference title.
On the field, I consider myself a very technical player and a playmaker with strong vision and passing ability. In addition, I have solid tackling capability, and this year I have worked diligently to improve my defensive positioning. I am a highly competitive player and a leader on the field. My ultimate goal is to attend a school that is challenging both athletically and academically. Thank you!
