Personal Statement
From my childhood most of my faintest memories are of me kicking around a soccer ball, begging for my parents to let me join the local soccer club. They held out on me until I was noticed for my ball control during a Rec game, which I was then approached and recruited for the same club. I remember studying the play of FC Bayern Munich in my first few years of youth soccer and creating this vision of myself playing on the big stage. Ever since then I have devoted myself to fulfilling that vision and with every game, training session, workout I have fallen deeper in love with this game. Soccer is so much more than a sport that you play or watch every Sunday. The beautiful game allows its players to become an artist, the master of their own craft developing skills and traits to last a lifetime on and off the field. It has taught me to be humble when celebrating a hard fought win, and to accept a loss holding my head high. Bruce Lee once said that defeat is nothing but a state of mind and that no one has been defeated until they accept defeat as their reality. Defeat is merely a temporary punishment that pushes you to create a stronger effort and will to achieve any goal. A loss can be handed out on the field, at home, or in the classroom but it is my job to be resilient and work till I have finished on top. I’m looking to match with a program that will athletically and academically fit me. I not only believe that I can play at the college level but that my leadership, creativity, high work ethic, and accountability will play a role in the program's success.
