My name is Nathan Rogers. I am 16 years old and a Junior at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, CA. My ultimate goal is to swim at the Division 1 level. My favorite and best events range from all the freestyle events, from the 100 (SCY/LCM) all the way up to the 1500/1650. I can also be effective in the 400IM and the 200IM. I have seen success at an elite level of the sport, being selected to Pacific Swimming All-Star teams, being a multi-time Junior Olympic, Far Western, and Senior 2/Western Zone finalist.
I think my best traits as a swimmer are my qualities of listening and resilience. I am currently the Team Captain of my club team, as well as my team's representative in Pacific Swimming. I work to instill a positive, hard-working, and competitive team culture by listening and communicating with the parents, swimmers, and coaches all around the sport. I have shown my resilience in the sport through my growth over my career. Whether it be establishing a strong mentality to fight adversity or physical toughness in training and racing, I have proven my sense of resilience.
I value academics very highly. I have balanced my schedule between swim and school effectively as I have achieved a GPA at or above a 4.0 all years of high school so far. I look to carry academics as a strong and leading factor in my search for a college to continue my swimming interests.
