Connor Cooley '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Connor Cooley and I am a senior athlete at Vail Mountain School in Vail, Colorado. Swimming has been a major focus in my life for the past eight years and I am seeking the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level as I pursue a degree in business or engineering. Academics are extremely important to me and I've worked hard to maintain a 3.8+ GPA (out of 4) and a top 5 academic ranking in my class. 

I spent my first 14 years in the Washington, DC area and had the opportunity to swim with Nation's Capital Swim Club. My family and I relocated to the Vail Valley (Colorado) for the start of high school and I currently attend Vail Mountain School. I  compete with the Foothills Swim Team, Glenwood Springs High School (since my high school does not have a team, I am able to compete with this local high school team), and I continue to swim summers in the Washington DC area.  

I also compete at the Varsity level with Vail Mountain School's lacrosse team (I'm a goalie) and with the climbing team. While I enjoy being active in these sports, as well as Nordic skiing, swimming is my passion and the sport that I compete in across all seasons. From an extracurricular standpoint, I lead my school's Math Club, frequently volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and enjoy coaching young swimmers as a volunteer in the summers. 

Everything I've achieved in the classroom and in the pool has come through setting goals, dedication, focus and the appreciation that hard work pays dividends. For my junior and senior years, I'm focused on continuing to excel in the classroom, becoming a yet more confident leader at my school, and working hard with my swim coaches to become a highly competitive swimmer that can earn a way onto a college swim team.
