Quintin Cummings '25 Recruiting Profile

Aloha from Hawaii! My name is Quintin Cummings, and I am currently a junior at Hawaii Baptist Academy on the island of Oahu. I swim in high school for PAC-5 and I'm a club swimmer with Iolani Swim Club.  I've been swimming competitively for five years now and I didn't start thinking about swimming for college until recently.  In the last couple of meets that I swam at, I was able to drop my times significantly, which made me think that maybe I could swim at the collegiate level.  Some of my collegiate goals include swimming for a prestigious college or university, competing against other swimmers who excel in the sport, and travelling to different areas of the country to race with my team. My academic goals are to get a degree in Mechanical Engineering and get real world, hands-on experience in that field.

I'd be an asset to my team because of my commitment to hard work; persevering when I have a poor swim; and encouraging and cheering my teammates on at every practice, clinic, dryland workout and meet we swim at. I'm the individual who brings energy, excitement, positivity and humor to the team.

Even though I may not be the "sharpest tool in the shed", I make up for it in my ability to focus, work hard and take action with my responsibilities.  I know it'll be a challenge to balance swimming in college with the academic workload but I love a challenge, and being from Hawaii, I love anything to do with the water, especially swimming, so I'm ready for it!

My character is defined by trustworthiness, flexibility and reliability. If I say I'm going to do something, I will follow through on it and get it done. Teammates can count on me to have respect for all, openly communicate and work toward our team goals and coaches can count on my coachability to help move the team forward.
