Personal Statement
My name is Connor Malinger and I am a Senior at Hawaii Baptist Academy on the island of Oahu. I have always been a hard worker, achieving high levels of academic success through out my time at school. This work ethic has translated to Track and Cross Country, and I am known to have one of the most hard-working and committed mentalities on my team and in my school.
I have consistently kept up a 4.0 unweighted GPA through freshman, sophomore and junior year while taking honors courses and APs. This year I also am taking 4 AP classes and am looking forward to a very rigorous course schedule. I hold a leadership position in the National Honor Society as a Committee Co-chair in addition to my seat as vice-president of my class Junior and Senior year and being Editor-in-Chief for the school newspaper. I have learned to be efficient in everything I do, and I excel at time-management.
In addition to finding academic success, I have organized canned food and COVID prevention supply drives at my school for the Hawaii Foodbank and IHS and co-founded the Hope for the Homeless NHS committee. I also have taken part in counseling camps for the younger grades, assisting with supervision and leading family groups. I volunteered at the elementary summer school program where I assisted a teacher with her two classes, running errands and supervising work.
I am consistent, committed, and self-motivated. I love having a team to bond with and I thrive on the connections we create. I am coachable and understand that my role is to listen and follow what my coaches have decided, because they know more than I do. I have faith in my coaches to push me beyond what I think I can do and further improve myself, and I look forward to the benefits of running in college.
