2022 HighlightsAloha, my name is Noah Caiserman. Born and raised in Lahaina, Hawaii, I have been surrounded by water my entire life. I was first introduced to the ocean at three months old when my father took me surfing on his bodyboard probably on a day when he shouldn't have, but I have been grateful for that day in the ocean ever since.
I started swimming at the age of eight because my parents were uncomfortable with how far out I was going to surf and they didn't want to worry about me. My dad knew the club coaches very well as he used to be a lifeguard at the Lahaina Aquatic Center, and they were eager to coach me. I quickly progressed and made my first state cut less than a year after I started, that was when surfing became a hobby and swimming became a priority. A couple of years after I won states in the 400 LCM freestyle, and two years after that, I won three more races. I have spent countless hours in the pool training and improving. I pin my goals and time cuts I want to make on my wall. All the hours of training have allowed me to cross out each goal I set. This is one of the most fulfilling things I have experienced in my time as a swimmer, but what I believe is more fulfilling is helping teammates achieve their goals and making sure that they're swimming fast. My club team is on the "smallest" side. The group I swim in has around 15-20 swimmers depending on the day and time of year. Many of the swimmers are also much younger than I am. My actions and the things I say during practice reflect this. I remember being a younger swimmer and how the older swimmers impacted me, positively and negatively. As a result of this, I try my best to make sure I share my knowledge, make sure that the younger swimmers are having a good time, and encourage them. This has taught me a great deal about leadership and how to be a role model and I believe that my team is unique in that way.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to talking to you in the future, Noah
