I've been swimming since I was five years old, most of my memories always have water or my water buddies nearby. My swim team has been like an extension of my family to me. Earlier this year I had to change teams due to my school and orchestra schedules. It was a difficult time, but being connected to the new swim team made the transition easier.
There are many reasons why I would like to continue my swimming career after high school. Belonging to a team at the university level gives me the assurance that the adaptation to this new stage of my life will be much more comfortable and simple. I believe that swimmers have an instant connection with those of us who enjoy what we do with passion, we adapt to hard work for the success of our Team. Being part of a team has taught me to listen, share and think that it is not just about me but about a whole.
I have competed at the federated level since I was 10 years old, this has kept my sense of responsibility active, making an effort to fulfill my multiple activities. Competing drives me, I feel great satisfaction every time I improve my times and this gives meaning to each of the training sessions. I love it when I score points for the team, knowing that this makes the difference for my team to win a competition.
In addition to swimming, music has been another of my passions. I have been playing violin for 12 years, and I am principal in the second violins in the "Arcos Juveniles de Caracas" Orchestra. Studies have always been very important to me and swimming along with music has been fundamental in managing my time, making me a disciplined young man. I know this will help me in my university stage. I am aware of the dedication, time and effort that it takes, but I am excited to go to college and join a swim team in the next chapter of my life's journey.
I like to have fun and others tell me I'm funny, but some say I have a serious side and that is usually when it comes to swimming or when I head the ranks of my orchestra. I care about others, I consider myself a good friend and I like to help those who need me whenever I can. I love my family and I enjoy the time I share with them, I feel that they support me and accompany me in each of my challenges and this time they will too.
I have full confidence that, if that is your choice, you will be proud of my performance.
