I am a motivated student and swimmer who has been swimming ever since the age of three. I joined my first club swim team in fourth grade. When club practice started, I realized many of the other kids were better than me. That didn't stop me, it pushed me. I worked hard to cut down my times and as I got older, my goal was to make it to the State Meet as a freshman. I’ve gone to state each year in high school, look forward to continuing to improve my times my senior year, and also to swimming in college.
During practice I try to have the best attitude towards my teammates and coaches. When our coach presents us with a hard set, instead of complaining, I think about what we're supposed to work on and try to do it to the best of my ability. When my teammate is struggling with a set or getting a time down, if I have a pointer I give it or I remind them of something that our coach said to do that would help. I’m also a listener. At the end of my junior year my coach gave me advice to lift weights. I’ve researched lifting plans to improve my swimming and in two months I have gained 10 pounds in muscle and am still lifting. I want to contribute to a team while achieving my educational and personal goals.
