I started swimming lessons a week after my older sister passed away on April 2015. A year later I joined Utica Shelby Swim Club and I've been swimming competitively ever since both in the club and my varsity high school team. I've worked extra hard to make up for the time I've lost and catch up with other members of my team that have been swimming for much longer and have had much more experience than I have. I try my hardest to succeed and overcome the obstacles I encounter focusing to achieve my goals. Recently at one of my meets, I fractured my left foot while entering the pool for the warm up. Disregarding the pain I swam my first event improving my time. I have learned to love swimming making it part of my life not only as the sport I'm really good at. I cannot wait to prepare for my next meet and start competing at higher levels. And now that I'm so close to graduating from IB High School, I'm looking forward to swimming in college while preparing for my future in Genetics.
