My goal as a college athlete is to cut time each race. I began swimming on the club level two years ago. A year into my club training, I switched from sprint to distance events. When I joined my club team, my goal was to simply push myself and find a positive group of friends. I never imagined I would be where I am now or how much dedication it would require.
Although I am excited about the opportunity of becoming a college athlete, I also understand the importance of an education. Maintaining a successful grade point average while managing my swim schedule has consistently been a priority of mine and will continue to be.
I believe what sets me apart from other candidates is my willingness to take on the challenge. At fifteen years old, I dove in knowing my teammates and opponents had been practicing every morning and night for most of their life. My two years of training is an advantage. Where most recruits will have burned out, I am just beginning.
