Hello,
I began swimming competitively at the age of six, and since then became in love with it. I have trained hard, overcoming a broken femur, in order to continue swimming. The aspect of training an entire year for two meets may seem crazy to the common public, but I think that's what gives me the thrill; That relieving moment of dropping those few extra seconds after a race is what makes the training worth it. Whenever it becomes hard I recall the speech Olympic medalist Cullen Jones gave to us on our banquet night following nationals; he explained that the only reason why he was able to achieve what he achieved is the doubt of a few people. Whenever he swam he imagined those daunting words of doubt, and that was what drove him. He taught me to always find motivation and work endlessly in order to achieve it. This attitude awarded me the Varsity Captain position as a Junior.
I also played piano for many years and am skilled enough to participate in several competitions. Other activities I participate in are saxophone, volleyball, and Russian class. I also speak Russian and French fluently.
I'm in Mu Alpha Theta, French Honor Society, and achieved honor roll; I also play varsity volleyball, was a Varsity Captain last year, won All Red Division Champion, and All Conference.
