I have been a dedicated swimmer at Lakeland Hills YMCA since the age of 7, continuously striving to grow as an athlete and achieve personal bests at every swim meet. As a team member, I take pride in encouraging my teammates and supporting younger swimmers to help them improve. I aim to be a positive influence both in and out of the pool. I bring a strong work ethic to everything I do. Since the age of 14, I have balanced swimming with part-time work. I show up to practices on time, prepared to give my best effort in the water and during dryland training. I focus on fueling my body properly to support recovery and growth. After each meet, I analyze my videos and times to identify areas for improvement and work closely with my coaches to refine my strokes and achieve my goals.
In addition to my commitment to swimming, I have taken on leadership roles at school. I have served as Class Treasurer for the past three years and plan to continue this role during my senior year. I am also a member of the Student Government Association (SGA) and actively participate in volunteer activities through the Interact Club and the I AM HOPE Foundation of NJ. I am also a member of the DECA club and have been nominated to attend the American Legion Jersey Boys State to represent my school which I will be applying for this year.
My work experience includes teaching swim lessons at the YMCA in the spring, lifeguarding at a community lake during the summer, and working as a golf caddie on weekends since I was 14. I approach every practice with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic, which my coaches often recognize as the reason for my consistent time drops. This season, my goal is to achieve a national qualifying time and represent Lakeland Hills YMCA as a National Swimmer at the end of this season.
Academically, I take my studies as seriously as my sport. I am enrolled in honors and 3 AP classes this school year, maintaining strong grades even during a demanding swim season. When I face challenges, I stay for extra help or seek tutoring to ensure I stay on track.
As I look toward the future, I am eager to attend a four-year college where I can continue to improve as a swimmer and contribute to a collegiate team while pursuing my academic goals. I am confident that my dedication, work ethic, and drive to succeed will help me thrive in this next chapter.
