COVID lockdown in the city taught me a lot about work ethic and focus: from training on a Vasa in my bedroom for two months, to using cords in a backyard pool for June, and later, relocating multiple times to swim with teams in different regions where pools were cleared to open. This constant pursuit of water to continue my daily practice has meant digging deep, and accepting a some degree of uncertainty, in order to continue improving. My sub-minute 100 Breast - like all my events - continues to significantly drop as I work on specific improvements to my technique and my body continues to grow. Before COVID-19 closures I was a Finalist at the Senior Metropolitan LSC Champion Meet (2020), and 1st seed Finalist @ East Zones LC Age Group Championships.
I began competing with a club in my Sophomore year (2018-19), but have loved swimming since I was nine years old (back then my love for cross-country running, as well as my love for chess kept me from clubs for three-time National Chess Championship runs). As a relative latecomer my times continue to significantly drop - and will continue to drop - as I continue making adjustments and as body continues to grow.
Academically, I am exploring majors in sciences relating to health and medicine, and I am considering pursuing a pre-med track as an undergraduate. I want to be at a school that is intellectually rigorous. I am currently taking AP Calculus AB, and was honored to be selected for the Bronx Science Design Institute (2019) and the Bronx Science Summer Coding Academy (2018).
