Ryan Pertak '18 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Ryan Pertak and I pride myself on my leadership and hard working qualities.  I demonstrate these qualities in and out of the pool everyday.  I am currently a senior at Harrison High School in Harrison, NY.  I am a two-year captain of both my club and high school varsity swim teams.  My coaches tell me that they appreciate that I do whatever the team needs of me without any complaining.  I also help my childhood recreation team and town by giving lessons to, and helping coach, children how to swim and compete.

During school, I challenge myself by taking high level classes, being a member of the National Honor Society, and being a member of the National Honor Society of Foreign Languages.  I believe these achievements and the discipline needed to obtain them, demonstrate that I have what it takes to succeed in college and life to come.  I know I love Mathematics, yet I don't know how to apply my passion to a career at this time.  I plan on leveraging the qualities I have today with qualities I will attain in college and different experiences to figure out my career during my college years.

It is important to me to continue swimming in college.  I am excited about entering college and all that will bring to me from an educational perspective and getting me ready for my career, yet I am also excited about being part of a team.  I believe that swimming will help me continue my self-disciplined way of life, enable me to meet amazing people and to also gain experiences that I would not be able to have without being part of a team.
