Personal Statement
I only started competitive swimming in the 7th grade. Before that I played youth football and soccer and wanted to try something new. The first season felt like a chore. As the next season came around, something inside of me said to give it another chance. I was glad I did. Something clicked for me in the 8th grade and I began to feel that I had found my sport. As I started high school I continued to fall in love with the sport as, with the help of my coaches and teammates, I kept improving my times and earned my first varsity letter in the final event of the season. As I entered my sophomore season I knew I wanted to try and swim at the collegiate level. I love swimming because it tests not only your physical endurance, but your mental endurance as well. I love the absoluteness of swimming as it is me against the clock with no excuses. This challenge drives me to compete and be the best version of myself, both in and out of the pool. I have the talent, work ethic, and teachability to grow and have continued success as a student athlete and to contribute to a college program.
