I have been swimming competitively since I was 10 years old. Since then I have not looked back. I have swam in a multitude of different environments and I have had no problem adapting to the circumstances in them. My teammates on my current team, the Orangeville Otters, (which I have been a member of for 5 years) describe that when I first joined I just got in the water with them and started swimming with no hesitation. I always ensure that my effort in practice reflects where I want to go in the future in swimming. As with any sport there are many ups and downs in the pool but I don't get discouraged because one of my main joys in swimming is seeing how fast I can go, even if I don't win the race.
One of my greatest achievements so far has been becoming the first Provincial Champion in the history of the Orangeville Otters by winning the 100 m backstroke at the Summer Ontario Swimming Championships in 2019 and then repeating as Champion at the Winter Ontario Swimming Championships in 2020. Another achievement that I am very proud of is becoming the youngest team member from the Orangeville Otters to qualify for the Canadian Junior Olympic Trials in both the 100 and 200 backstroke. Swimming is also a team sport and one of the biggest victories for our team this year was winning the Regional Championships for the first time in club history. Helping to contribute to this victory and cheering on all of my teammates was an experience I will never forget.
I am currently attending Westside Secondary School. I think it is very important to balance swimming and school life. I take as much pride in my grades as I do my swimming. I am enrolled in all academic classes (honours) and I am interested in studying Medicine and/or Engineering in the future. Being a Student Athlete that succeeds is very important to me.
Outside of school and swimming I enjoy baking, computers and my dog. In the past I have gotten involved in the community. In 2019 I took part in a fundraiser with 9 friends called "Will Swim for Food" which raised over $11 000 for the local food bank. My goal is to be a well rounded athlete, student and member of the community.
