At 7 months old, I was introduced to the pool when my mother dunked me in and out of the water during parent and tot lessons. Many thought she was crazy, but my mom could tell that I loved it by the smile on my face. For the next 7 years, I went around the city trying new sports every year, but I could never find one that I enjoyed. In September 2013, my parents enrolled me with the Windsor Essex Swim Team, and I grew to love the sport and its competitiveness. At 10 years old, I first qualified for Ontario Winter Festivals, proving to myself that swimming is something I am committed to and want to continue doing for as long as I am able.
Balancing 15 hours of weekly training and school is difficult. Being a self-driven and dedicated individual, I continue to work my hardest at every practice while maintaining a GPA of 4.0.
I am a very attentive and coachable student-athlete, paying attention to every detail of my stroke and race strategy. As the 2022-2023 Captain of the Windsor Essex Swim Team, I push myself and my teammates to become the best athletes we can be. Volunteering weekly with my local Special Olympics Club, I use my swim knowledge to help others.
Throughout my swimming career, I have been fortunate enough to be selected to represent Windsor-Essex at the 2020 International Children’s Games in Hungary which were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under my high school, I have qualified for OFSAA in 2020. Under my club, I am a qualifier for the 2022 Ontario Swimming Championships and the 2022 Canadian Eastern Championships.
I am fully committed to working hard in and out of the water and I am extremely excited to see what the future holds for my post-secondary education.
