Personal Statement
When I started swimming at 8 years old it became my dream to swim at the collegiate level and at the national level. At that time I decided to dedicate all my energy towards my dreams. I reached a personal goal by qualifying for the 2017 and 2018 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships.
My name is Kevin Geist and I am 17 years old. I train and compete with Hilton Head Aquatics, in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. I also compete on the Hilton Head Island High School swim team. As a sophomore and as a junior, I was named captain of my high school team. My experience as team captain has enhanced my quest to gain leadership skills. I was one of eight sophomores selected by my teachers and principal to attend the South Carolina Youth Leadership Conference in May of 2017.
When I am not swimming I am working on my education. I challenge myself with Honors and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. I am looking forward to taking IB Chinese next year. My unweighted GPA is 3.9 and my weighted GPA is 4.7.
My mantra is: work hard, listen to your coach, believe in yourself and you will be the best you can be. I am dedicated to achieving my fullest potential in swimming and academics.
