My name is Ryan Berry, I am 6'1'' and weigh 175 pounds. I am from north Georgia and just finished my Junior at East Hamilton High School in Chattanoog, Tennessee. I am also happy to say that I am now a rising senior at The McCallie School, my brother's alma mater. I started swimming at the young age of four years old. My older brother is a swimmer, and I just couldn’t wait to do what he was doing. He would be the first to tell you that I’ve been improving ever since. One quality that I can offer a team is my desire to be the best in everything I do. I use others to push myself, and I hope other swimmers look at me and use me to push themselves. I love hard work, and I set big goals for myself. Because of this, I’ve been told that I’m a good leader and teammate. Other qualities that I can offer a team are my desire to succeed, competitive nature, and my love for the sport swimming. I really love the rush I get when competing in the pool. There is nothing like the feeling of out touching your opponent by hundredths of a second.
I am extremely motivated to swim in college. I have and will continue to take a challenging course load in high school. I do not want any College or University to ever be able to look at me and say that I did not challenge myself academically. I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and in the pool. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and make my family proud.
I just ended a successful short course season which included a trip to Orlando for the NCSA Jr Nationals. My goals for this upcoming long course season is to earn more Futures cuts, but most of all, a Summer or Winter Jrs cut in the 100 breast, 100 back, or 50 free! That is what I‘m really working toward this spring and summer!
