As I start my Junior year of high school, I have set a compelling goal: to achieve a sub 21-second time in the 50 freestyle, while improving times in longer events (100, 200 free, and 100 Breast). During my Sophomore year I shaved off almost two seconds to get my personal best down to 21.69. I will be starting with a professional swim club for the first time in my swimming life. I'm hopeful that the disciplined training and my determination, will push my limits and achieve these milestones. My mom (D-1 athlete at Baylor University - 100M Hurdles) always preached that with dedication and perseverance, any goal is within reach. Sporty genes helped my foundation for natural talent and physical prowess, which enhanced my performance in all my athletic endeavors.
As a dedicated member of my community, I prioritize my commitments with a clear focus. Beyond the pool, I find fulfillment by volunteering in outreach programs sponsored by my youth group at church. This past summer, I attended our annual work camp week in Canton, TX where I nailed shingles on a church roof, constructed a wheelchair ramp, and helped with lots of painting. Experiences like this teach me the value of empathy, service, and teamwork. I hope to continue to build on those qualities throughout my college career and into my adult life.
Looking ahead, my passion for problem-solving and innovation drives my ambition to pursue engineering in college.
