My background of growing up in Australia and moving to the United States almost 7 years ago is one area that will make me different to most other recruits and bring a diverse perspective and personality to a college and college swim team. I was fortunate enough to represent school swim teams from the 2nd grade and this was the foundation for my drive to swim.
When we made the move from Australia, I set some goals around school and swimming, one of those was to make my high school team when I was eligible and I had achieved that as a freshmen. Working with my coaches, we have continually adjusted intermediate goals to drive growth and performance development. Results this year have been receiving a coach's award, progressing all the way to state championships with my high school team and further, achieving many sectionals and futures time cuts on a club front. The long-term goal is to continue to swim competitively beyond high school, although with only my senior year to go, this is not so long term. I know as I put my head down at the start of the next school year time will move fast
I value my education and sports equally and want to achieve my career goal of engineering and or business, in parallel with my athletic ambitions. Throughout my time on my Round Rock High school swim team, I have learnt to balance my academic achievements with my training needs, achieving strong consistent academic results throughout my schooling.
I believe that I would be a good candidate for your team because of my dedication to study, training and focus on developing as an athlete to achieve goals. My background and life experiences will allow me to interact and contribute to a college swim team environment all while helping drive myself to achieve my goals with like minded people. It is important to me to have great friendships with other people in my classes and swim team, so I have a strong group of people to interact and share experiences with together. I see being part of your swim team would help me in developing this group and help me develop my identity in the college environment.
