Swimming has held a special place in my heart since I started back when I was 10. As any swimmer would know, swimming isn’t easy, and it’s the challenge that keeps driving me to improve myself as an athlete, which ultimately extends its reaches into the classroom and my everyday life. While my aspirations aren’t to become an olympian, it’s been my dream since I was young to become an athlete at the collegiate level.
I’m inherently competitive in everything I do, it's not just limited to the pool and at school. As academics are something important to me, I prefer taking more difficult classes so I not only have the more challenging material, but the more intelligent classmates who push me as well.
What sets me apart from other recruits is that I put my team before myself. While swimming is an individual sport, any real swimmer knows that your teammates' success is nearly as important as your own. To ensure this, it’s necessary that a team works together to create a competitive atmosphere in practice, and that they’re there for each other when times get rough. Not only am I an athlete and a student, but I’m a good teammate as well.
