Personal Statement
Swimming has been at the center of my nonacademic life since I was eight years old. In subsequent years, it has taught me several life skills. Among others: how to balance school and extracurricular, how to overcome obstacles, and how to be mentally tough. All have helped me excel both in and out of the classroom, applying my knowledge and work ethic to everything I do. Through my three years in high school, I have maintained a GPA of over 4.0, while also training and competing for my club and high school swim teams at the highest levels.
In recent years, I have battled obstacles in and out of the pool, but have continued to consistently drop time regardless. My ability to overcome adversity in conjunction with my strong work ethic make me an excellent fit for any program, regardless of how my times compare. I am looking for a college experience that both fosters my academic and athletic growth, and allows me to engage in the community around me.
