Personal Statement

Nick Pease September 1, 2015

My name is Nick Pease, I'm currently a senior at Albemarle High School in Charlottesville, VA. I've been swimming since I was 6 years old. I started swimming for fun and because my older brothers were all doing the same activity. I started year round swimming about 3 years ago when I got into high school. Swimming has been a major part of my life and is something I truly love. As I'm getting bigger and stronger my times have become much improved. I'm now wanting to continue swimming at the college level. My faith and family are first in my life but swimming is not far behind.
I have dedicated countless hours over the past two years to get faster and stronger both physically and mentally. I currently train with my club team daily . I've also recently added a personal trainer and a private swim coach. Coach E, a former D1 and Olympic coach has been great for me. He''s is working on my technique and dry land skills. Though we are nearly 60 years apart in age, he has made me realize my potential as a swimmer and young man.
I have set very high gaols for myself this Fall and working everyday to acheive those. I'm looking for a school that will give me the opportunity to compete at the highest level and grow both as a swimmer and student. I have attached a link to one of my most recent races that I;m proud of. This was a swim off at YMCA Nats in the 50 backstroke. I had just swam a few min earlier and was not happy about my time. My coach came up when I was warming down and said I was in a swim off. I was not going to lose. I posted my personal best and won the race. To date the highlight of my swim career. I hope to have many more.

Personal trainer Bryan Lynch at ACAC has been working with me starting in August several times a week on proper weight training skills. We have been working with free weights and machines to learn the value of each. Also we have been working on diet and vitamin supplements as well.
