Personal Statement
I would be a great addition to your team, because I’m a responsible student, hard working, on and off the court. I train at Next Generation Academy in Sarasota, FL almost everyday, and play USTA tournaments frequently. I'm competitive and have always had a goal of playing at the collegiate level. In 2019, I was part of the Venice Indians High School Team, playing #2 as sophomore. We brought home the Class 3A State Championship (the first in school history) by beating Doral in the final. This was a thrilling experience. We also made the regional finals in 2018 and I represented (along with my partner) the #1 Doubles Team player as a freshman and made it to FHSAA Doubles finals as well. Winning States in 2019 was extremely rewarding as we had a very rigorous playing schedule along with the last semester of the school year, which is always the most challenging. More importantly, it taught me to trust and believe in myself and to respect the amazing group of guys around me.
I attend Pine View High School in Osprey, Florida. Pine View was just awarded the #1 School in Florida by the Department of Education & US News and World Report-May 2019. Pine View ranks #15 in the country, #8 Magnet School and #23 in STEM High Schools.
In addition to training on the court, I workout frequently in the gym and on the track. I’ve come to realize very early on in my junior career that off court training & fitness are equally as important. I have always worked well with all coaches; I am receptive and a very good listener. I’ve also been known to put in extra work. I get along well with others and am a great doubles player.
Tennis is my passion! I first started playing tennis when I was 4 years old. My dad, Chandra Rajakar, is a tennis professional and got me into the sport early on. He also competed in the Asian Olympics in 1986 and represented his home country of Nepal; so athleticism is in my genes. I have an intense passion for tennis and strive to always improve my game. I want to play college tennis and get a bachelor’s degree. I have great mental focus and consistency at competing at high level USTA tournaments.
