I started playing tennis late in my 9th grade year during my high school tryouts, and as soon as I picked up a racket, I felt like I couldn't let go. Although I was cut from the tryout and didn't get to play for my school, I didn't just sit back and wait for next year. I worked as hard as I could in order to improve so I could come back stronger the next time. When I didn't have anyone to hit with, I hit against my school's brick wall, and when I did have a partner, I was always conscious of what I could do to improve. Although I was putting in hundreds of hours into tennis, I never sacrificed my academics and keep up a 4.7 weighted GPA to this day. In 11th grade, I finally had the chance to not just play for my school, but to lead the team as the captain as well. While I was still doing my best to improve my own skills, I was coaching and motivating my teammates as well. At the end of the year, I won the Maryland 3A Boys Doubles State Championship. Now, focusing on the next chapter of my life, I feel that I would make a great addition to a college team with my hardworking nature and positive attitude. In college, I will do whatever I can to keep improving while also lifting up my teammates' spirits.
